Company History
In 1984, Cyvex Nutrition was started in Toronto, Canada. Since its founding and eventual relocation to Irvine, CA in 1989, the company has reengineered the antioxidant ingredient category with its expanding roster of fruit-, vegetable- and botanical-sourced offerings. This versatile range is reflected in Cyvex’s FlavoVital™ quick-reference guide to its line of flavonoid products, as well a comprehensive Antioxidant Wheel, which presents the company’s portfolio of antioxidants in a colorful and easy-to-use manner.

In late 2010, Omega Protein Corporation, a leading producer of omega-3 fish oil and specialty ingredients, acquired Cyvex Nutrition. As a subsidiary, Cyvex Nutrition carries and markets Omega Protein’s OmegaPure® omega-3 oils for use in functional foods, as well as OmegaActiv™ concentrated fish oils for the nutritional supplement industry.

Recent Product Developments
Earlier this year, Cyvex Nutrition launched SolaThin™, a pure, protein-rich potato extract for effective weight management, and also began offering its anthocyanin-rich Super C-3-G™ black rice ingredient.

In addition, the company expanded its “Green Antioxidant” offerings with Alfalfa 95 percent Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin and Alfapro™ Agglomerated alfalfa juice protein concentrate for beverage applications. In 2010, its signature ingredients BioVin® and BioVin 20 full spectrum grape extracts achieved self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for use in functional foods and beverages.

Quality Assurance
To ensure the identity and purity of all ingredients it sells above and beyond all analytical testing, Cyvex’s NutriPrint® employs sophisticated FT-NIR spectroscopy methods to scan a characteristic fingerprint on every shipment and every container. When first launched in 1988, NutriPrint represented one of the very first supplier-created QA protocols, emphasizing Cyvex Nutrition’s industry leadership, innovation and commitment to helping its customers meet the industry’s increasing standards for
quality control.

In 2010, Cyvex Nutrition received an “excellent compliance” rating and certification following a Natural Products Association GMP audit of its facilities and manufacturing processes.
